Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child is a ministry project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organisation which specialises in meeting the immediate needs of victims of conflict, disaster, famine and epidemics throughout the world.
It provides emergency food, water, shelter, medicine and other life-saving assistance. This emergency relief moves on to recovery and then to ongoing sustainable development.
With Operation Christmas Child, Christmas gift boxes are filled by Australian and New Zealand supporters, then these are distributed to children in impoverished areas of the world, providing them with items to use in school as well as toys and other gifts. During this distribution, the gospel is shared with the people of the villages.
Havannah House Ministries Inc is an integral part of this ministry in Forbes, acting as a storage site for filled boxes before they are sent to Samaritan’s Purse for distribution.
Havannah House craft group members and other volunteers also make items to be included in the shoe boxes, as well as donating and collecting other items and packing the shoe boxes to be sent
If you would like to take part in this ministry, please contact your local churches to see if anyone is co-ordinating Operation Christmas Child in your town or contact Samaritan’s Purse directly.
